A very warm welcome to the Kettering, Ise Valley U3A website.  Situated in the southern part of Kettering, Northamptonshire, Ise Valley is one of two U3A's serving the Kettering and District area. Ise Valley U3A was formed in 2005 and has around 250 members.

We are a very friendly organisation whose activities are focused on a number of interest groups. Subjects covered vary considerably and can be see by clicking on "Group Activities" in the Menu to the left.

ChairA Message from the Chair

2012 sounds as though it will be a very busy year on the national scene, with the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics to name but a couple of major events to come, but I hope whatever the year has in store for each of you I hope it will be a happy, fulfilling  and peaceful one.

I mentioned in my last letter the U3A olympics - I can now tell you that the first local event that I know about is a table tennis match against Wellingborough U3A on March 9th.  Let us know if you or your group have any ideas for similar events - it does not necessarily have to be in the sporting world, I've even heard of competitive scrabble!

Following the success of the recent quiz night/fish and chip supper with the Kettering group, we are planning a beetle drive with a  chicken and chip supper - the date has yet to be arranged - hopefully in early spring.  Watch this space!

with best wishes, Wendy.

The groups vary in size and they determine their own course of study under a chosen leader. There are no formal lectures and members are encouraged to share in a joint process of learning and discovery. Most groups use members homes to host Group meetings and this adds to the friendly informal atmosphere.

The main U3A monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Ise Lodge Community Centre, St Vincent's Avenue, Kettering to which we invite guest speakers who cover a wide range of topics; the current programme can be viewed by choosing "What's On" on the Menu Bar.  The atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly and refreshments are available.

All activities are covered in a regular newsletter published each month and the last newsletter can be viewed by selecting "Magazine" on the Menu.
