A very warm welcome to the Kettering, Ise Valley u3a website. Situated in Kettering, Northamptonshire, Ise Valley is one of two u3as serving the Kettering and District area. Ise Valley u3a was formed in 2005 and currently has around 200 members. We are a very friendly organisation whose activities are focused on a number of interest groups. These are Groups organised and led by our members. Subjects covered vary considerably and can be see by clicking on "Group Activities" in the Menu to the left. Activity groups vary in size and they determine their own course of study under a chosen leader. There are no formal lectures and members are encouraged to share in a joint process of learning and discovery. Most groups use members' homes to host Group meetings and this adds to the friendly informal atmosphere. The main u3a monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Eden Centre, 21 Montagu Street, Kettering, NN16 8XG to which we invite guest speakers who cover a wide range of topics. The current programme can be viewed by choosing "Monthly Meetings" on the Menu on the left. The atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly and refreshments are available. You can come as a guest to two of these meetings - see what we get up to (for a small charge). As a member you can sign up to various activities and trips at the meeting. Many of our activities are covered in a regular Newsletter published each month and the last 12 Newsletters may be viewed by selecting "Our Newsletter" on the Menu. u3a membership is not related to a specific age but to a period in life (the third age) after the second age of full-time employment and parental responsibility. Anyone in their third age can join u3a and this includes people who are working part time. How to join us:- Ring the contact number of the Membership Secretary (see the Contact Us page) and ask for more information. It is the personal telephone number of the membership secretary so you are not restricted to working hours but be reasonable if calling in the evening, or send an email via the link at the top of the Contact Us page Joining is easy and you will find the cost of membership to be minimal. Why not download a Membership form and fill it in to save time - click the Document Download button on the left and then download the Membership PDF Form. Print it and send it to the address shown on the form. We have a facebook Group page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/2461922924119298/ You will need to have a Facebook account (and password) to log into the page. Or alternatively log into Facebook in the normal way and search Facebook for Ise Valley u3a. Once accepted as members you will be able to post messages and see what everyone is doing.
