A very warm welcome to the Kettering, Ise Valley U3A website. Situated in the southern part of Kettering, Northamptonshire, Ise Valley is one of two U3A's serving the Kettering and District area. Ise Valley U3A was formed in 2005 and has around 250 members.
We are a very friendly organisation whose activities are focused on a number of interest groups. Subjects covered vary considerably and can be see by clicking on "Group Activities" in the Menu to the left.
A Message from the Chair
With groups in mind please note we now have a 2 new Dancing Groups up and running. The Country Dancing Group meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday mornings while the Ballroom Dancing Group meet on Friday. If you would like to join one of these groups please contact Pat Johnson by email - click here
If you have any ideas for new groups please contact either Harry or Pat and we will put out a sign up list to see if we get enough interest. We will try to put vacancies in the magazine (Group Leaders please tell us if you have any vacancies) and please look for any new ones on the Groups table. We have one or two lists with a few names already on them so why not sign up to them too.
Unfortunately the Sunday Lunch group has closed - Sula is doing voluntary work and will be away in India a lot so she feels that she cannot carry on with this. If anyone would like to take it over please contact Pat (see above).
We are also having a second (or is it a third) attempt to run a beginners digital photography group. Please sign up for it in the normal way.
It is almost time to renew membership for next year - forms will be available next month and during July and I hope you are intending to continue your membership. Remember our year is from 1st August 2016 to 31st July 2017 so the sooner you renew the better. Also remember that, following agreement at last year's AGM, the membership fee has been increased to £15. This was unavoidable because the visiting speakers' expenses have also increased. When you renew please make sure your details are correct (especially phone and email addresses). Fill in any changes in CAPITALS to make sure they can be accurately read! Also tick the box if you want to continue having the National U3A magazine and (even more important) tick the box for Gift aid if you pay income tax.
10th ANNIVERSARY PICTUIRES
Activity groups vary in size and they determine their own course of study under a chosen leader. There are no formal lectures and members are encouraged to share in a joint process of learning and discovery. Most groups use members' homes to host Group meetings and this adds to the friendly informal atmosphere.
The main U3A monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Eden Centre, 21 Montagu Street, Kettering, NN16 8XG to which we invite guest speakers who cover a wide range of topics. The current programme can be viewed by choosing "What's On" on the Menu Bar. The atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly and refreshments are available.
Many of our activities are covered in a regular newsletter published each month and the last 12 newsletters can be viewed by selecting "Magazine" on the Menu.
