A very warm welcome to the Kettering, Ise Valley U3A website. Situated in the southern part of Kettering, Northamptonshire, Ise Valley is one of two U3A's serving the Kettering and District area. Ise Valley U3A was formed in 2005 and currently has around 250 members.
We are a very friendly organisation whose activities are focused on a number of interest groups. Subjects covered vary considerably and can be see by clicking on "Group Activities" in the Menu to the left.
A Message from the Chair
URGENT: The Church of Jesus Christ and the Latterday Saints was broken into last night and therefore today's visit is cancelled (20/6/16). They are having tours on Wednesday 22nd at 1pm and 7pm if you would like to go then.
A reminder that the Renewal season is upon us - the renewal sheets are available from Sylvia as are the new Membership Cards which are smaller this year and should fit into wallets and purses better. There will be a book forthcoming "How to guillotine your fingers for Dummies".
Please check details carefully and if there are any changes to be made, please make them so that they can be read - preferably in capitals. I would like to repeat the request that you tick the box if you want to receive the national magazine and also, if you pay tax, please tick the box for gift aid.
As the last time we held a quiz night was such a success we thought we would organise another - Thursday 22nd September at the Athletic Club. The food and quiz master have been booked. Start 7.30pm. There will be a sheet to see how many are interested since we need at least 25 for the event to be viable. Please sign up if you would like to join us - tickets will be on sale from next month. Teams of 6 or less.
AGM Next month - since being on the committee is so exciting, no one wants to stand down this year! There is, however room for one more committee member and we are also seeking a new newsletter editor, so if you fancy joining us for the committee meetings on the Wednesday morning following the monthly meetings (tea/coffee and biscuits too!), please come and talk to me.
10th ANNIVERSARY PICTUIRES
Activity groups vary in size and they determine their own course of study under a chosen leader. There are no formal lectures and members are encouraged to share in a joint process of learning and discovery. Most groups use members' homes to host Group meetings and this adds to the friendly informal atmosphere.
The main U3A monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the Eden Centre, 21 Montagu Street, Kettering, NN16 8XG to which we invite guest speakers who cover a wide range of topics. The current programme can be viewed by choosing "What's On" on the Menu Bar. The atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly and refreshments are available.
Many of our activities are covered in a regular newsletter published each month and the last 12 newsletters can be viewed by selecting "Magazine" on the Menu.
